A Family-Run Maui Photography Team

Living our dream, capturing yours. We photograph life’s most cherished moments on Maui, from the tender embrace of a newly engaged couple to a family’s treasured vacation.

We started as a husband-and-wife team, John and Jessie, and have since grown into a family-operated team. Maui is our home, and photography is our passion; we pour our hearts into our craft and feel endlessly grateful to live in, and be a part of, such a special place in the world. Every day, we’re blessed to meet amazing people from all around the world, and capturing their precious Maui memories is truly an honor and a pleasure.

With Aloha…

At our heart, we’re about people. We love building real relationships with our clients and creating an experience that goes far beyond taking photos: capturing emotion, preserving your story and crafting images that resonate with every person we have the honor of working with.

We hold one steadfast principle: no standardized photo presets and no compromises in color grading. Every photograph is hand edited and color graded as its own piece.

Our Name

Pine & Palm began with our roots: Oregon’s pine for John and Hawaiʻi’s cherished palm trees for Jessie, the trees that represent each of our hometowns.

We also chose trees because they have always been gathering places. People meet beneath them, rest in their shade and come together around them. A photo session does the same thing: it gives the people you love a reason to gather, slow down and simply be together, and we get to capture it.

“Productions” reflects the full experience we create, from planning your session to delivering your finished gallery. Jessie helps you plan and handles your booking. At your session, we guide you through every pose. Afterward, you choose your favorites from your online gallery, and John hand edits every image you pick.

We aspire to make every step easy, so you can relax and enjoy your time in paradise.

Our Story

Ever since they met, our founders have shared a passion for photography. For years, John and Jess took on freelance projects while their main work stayed in the food and beverage industry.

When the COVID-19 pandemic closed Hawaiʻi’s tourism and local economy, John and Jess both lost their jobs. It was an uncertain time, but that unexpected turn led them to take a leap of faith and start Pine & Palm Productions on Maui.

That leap has proven immensely fruitful. What began as a husband-and-wife team has since grown into a family-operated team, and today we spend our sunrises and sunsets giving people a reason to gather and capturing their Maui memories.

We are deeply grateful for the courage to embrace this chapter and for every connection made along the way, including every client who has trusted us with their precious moments.
