Kanaha Beach Park
-
This beach is located in Kahului, just behind our OGG airport. Ideally this location is best for mornings as it is known for its strong winds later in the day.
Sunrise/morning sessions are best here as the beaches are less busy and winds are much calmer. It is also a good starting point for some quick family photos before driving the Road to Hana.
-
Sunsets here aren’t as ideal as the sun will be setting behind the mountains seen in the background. Winds later in the day attracts a hefty amount of Maui’s wind surfers which makes sessions later in the day here a little tricky.

This beach is located in Wailea and is one of our favorites. Good for either morning or sunset, this beach offers the sandy shores, palm trees and lava rocks for the setting.
Across the ocean, the island of Kaho’olawe and Lana’i are visible and include Molokini Crater. -
Sunday, sunset sessions are not a good time for this location. (Since the pandemic, the local event called “Drum Circle” has moved to this location and attracts quite the crowd.)
Sunsets are normally much busier than the morning sessions. Usually we are working between fellow photographers and wedding ceremonies that take place on the beach.

This beach is located in Wailea and is one of the better beaches for people with physical mobility issues. Good for either morning or evening. This beach offers a paved pathway from the (public) parking lot down to the shore line.
It does front the Fairmont Kealani and the Polo Beach Club in Wailea but does offer some beautiful scenery.
Lava rocks, palm trees and a sandy shore are available at this location. -
This beach is in front of a resort and frequents beachgoers/walkers all day long.
There are buildings around this area, so at certain angle they will be in the background of the image.

This location is one of the best for sunsets in the Lahaina/ Ka’anapali area.
This beach has no buildings within walking distance, and the crowd at the beach are mostly surfers. (Location is known to be a great spot for beginner-intermediate surfers.)
It does offer a variety of scenery including greenery, sandy shores and a loko i’a- fish pond for the setting. This beach offers a view of the actual setting sun in the background of the image.

If the surf is good, the parking gets bad. There is overflow parking across the street for beachgoers, but usually the surf determines the crowd at the beach.
